Materials

We offer our typefaces in a range of different materials and finishes to complement your door. Below is breakdown of the finishes and their characteristics.

Brass

The classic door hardware material, an alloy of Copper and Zinc, having the ability to live in both traditional and contemporary environments.

Finish
A satin bead blast is used to create a soft consistent texture with a warm glow.
Protection
Coated in Renaissance Wax, first developed by The British Museum to protect their antique artefacts, an acid-free preserving wax that does not damage the material.
The wax protection can be reapplied, or over time the brass can be allowed to develop a rich patina.

Aluminium

Compared to Brass, Aluminium is a relatively new material, first produced in 1825, by the 1950s it had become a component of housewares popularised by the Bauhaus movement.
